| A wilp gets all its crests
from supernatural encounters. When a wilp divides into
parts, the new wilp needs to take some of the crests that
belonged to the original wilp. Sometimes, the two huwilp
agree to share one or more crests. That is one reason why
the same crest can sometimes be found in different
places. Sometimes, when an important crest needed to be shared it was changed to make a new crest.
Thes are all crests that were made by adding to the original crest "eagle". Combining crests: Sometimes the members of one wilp are "adopted" by another. When this happens some of the crests of two huwilp might be combined. |

Make sure you have a description of each. If you are not First Nations go to a First Nations elder and learn about his or her crests. Some families who are not First Nations have crests, too.
