Because of the fragile and helpless position of the patients at the shelter it is imperative that they be kept as safe and secluded as possible. It is a constant battle to try and keep up with the maintenence of the older buildings and still provide new and specialized cages for the different types of birds and animals. The predators must be kept far away from the prey animals or it would cause to much stress for both species.
This flight and recovery cage is for predators who have recovered enough to start building up their strength prior to release. All animals must be strong enough to hunt and survive before being released.
Because there are no other facilities to take in pet birds such as budgies, canaries and cockatiels, the shelter also provides a pretty little chalet for them until new adoptive homes can be found for them.
