| My name is Barney and I was found by Scouty, a hikers dog, as they were walking along the railroad tracks. Scouty kept coming back to me where I was hidden in the bushes until his owner came and looked in. He had me taken to the shelter where I was looked after until I was well enough to fly away again. I had been eating mice that had been poisoned and it made me very sick. I am very happy that I got well because I found myself a mate and had two babies. I sure wouldn't have wanted to miss out on that. |

Hi there;
I have come to stay at the shelter until I stop feeling dizzy. I wasn't looking where I was going and got a glancing blow from a car. Concussion isn't a very good thing for an owl you know. I think I will be okay in a little while but the eats are so good here, I'm in no hurry.

| Here some of the types of owls that have stayed with the Prince Rupert Wildlife Rehabilitation Shelter for a while as they recuperated from their injuries. |

Shorteared owl

This is a full grown pigmy owl who was picked up and brought to the shelter. The only problem with him was the fact that he could not fly with the weight of the starling that he had killed. He was not going to let go of his lunch so he was kept until the starling was all eaten and then he could fly just fine.
