Grizzly Bear 4 Day Tour:

Grizzly bear eco-tours to the Khutzeymateen Valley and other grizzly habitat can be the experience of a lifetime. The Khutzeymateen Valley for example is fifty miles by boat from prince Rupert up a long inland fiord, nestled amongst the beautiful coastal mountains. This is one of the best grizzly bear habitat areas in Canada, and is now Canada's first grizzly bear sanctuary.  The best time to view grizzly bears is from May 1st thought early July. As a rule there are a lot of grizzly bears on the inlet and estuary at this time of year. This being the time they descend from their winter dens to mate and eat the tender sedge grasses making viewing from the boat, zodiac and shore quite easy. Often mothers with 1 to 3 cubs can be seen teaching their young survival in their natural habitat. Also, the salmon rich waters of this area do attract bears all season long allowing for varied good success in seeing grizzlies right until late October. There are absolutely no facilities in the Khutzeymateen whatsoever. You go in on the beautiful fully equipped 40ft. motor sailing ketch, Sun Chaser. The Sun Chaser acts as the mother ship for our expedition. All meals, sleeping facilities, preparation for viewing excursions and relaxing time are done onboard. Depending of the booking schedule some charters may be flown in or out by float plane. This is included in your price.

You will see the complete ecosystem. A few things you can expect to see are, old growth forest, nurse trees, eagles and their nests, all in season birds, ducks and in season wild flowers, decades old grizzly bear trails, seals, otters, grizzlies, black bears, and porcupines just to mention a few.

The boat trip in is a very exciting experience. The scenery is awe inspiring with lush green mountains thousands of feet high coming straight down into the sea. We also pass though some of the best salmon fishing areas in the world, not to mention the possibility of seeing wolves, porpoises, grey, humpback and killer whales.

Every one who goes, says it has been  the best experience of their lifetime.
