High Charters specializes in multiple day adventures. Each night is generally
spent in a different anchorage. The area is so large and uncrowded that
you often feel alone in the wilderness. We prefer to specialize in Spring
salmon (also known as Chinook, King salmon and Tyee when over 30#) using
light gear to enjoy the fishing. Springs generally start to show in numbers
in early May and are around in quantity until mid July. For a break from
salmon fishing we mooch for halibut, getting the occasional "barn door"
after all Prince Rupert is known as the halibut capitol! Halibut, lingcod,
rockfish and crab are plentiful throughout the season. Early July brings
coho, chum and pink salmon. We may not be able to take coho but the other
salmon are better eating than coho and put up a very good fight, especially
on the type of gear we supply. We use long limber rods and single action
reels with barbless hooks.
This makes for an experience which is hard to beat. Two to four day
trips on which 3-4 persons can be comfortably accommodated and fish comfortably
in any kind of weather are the best. On your trip you are likely to see
a plethora of wildlife. Some of the wildlife you might see are: bears,
eagles, whales and dolphins, and lets not forget the pristine beaches and
