CityTel Mobility Puts Communication in the Palm of Your Hand!

Prince Rupert - November 24, 1997 -
What weighs as little as 3.1 ounces, fits perfectly in the pocket of your jeans, is roughly the size of a pager and allows you to order dinner on the run? Give up? It's the Motorola StarTAC Wearable Cellular Telephone! The world's smallest and lightest cellular phone is now available at CityTel Mobility.

Motorola's StarTAC phone creates a new category of cellular phones - the wearable category - following installed mobiles, transportables, hand held portables and pocket or personal phones. When placed into its holster, the StarTAC phone may be worn easily and unobtrusively by both men and women on-the-go. This new phone represents convenience, reliability and durability that helps keep consumers in touch with the important people in their lives.

"The addition of the StarTAC phone to our cellular product line is an exciting one," said Bruce Kerr, General Manager, CityTel. "Finally cellular users can experience the freedom with the world’s smallest cell phone. They don’t come any smaller."

The StarTAC phone is not just small, it's small in the right ways. When opened to its full size, the body-friendly StarTAC phone comfortably forms to the face to maintain the familiar ear-to-mouth ratio for which Motorola's cellular phones are known. When folded, the StarTAC phone is so small and light it can be worn fashionably as an accessory. This wearable wonder stands apart from the wide range of portable and personal phones available today.

The StarTAC cellular phone has many exciting new features. It is the first cellular phone able to operate with two removable batteries at the same time - another Motorola and industry breakthrough. When one battery's power is depleted, the other battery automatically provides the necessary power to continue important conversations - uninterrupted. With its Lithium Ion Extra Capacity Main and Auxiliary batteries attached, users may receive up to four hours of continuous talk time or up to an incredible 47 hours of standby time. And since the batteries are nearly half the size of those previously available, two or three batteries can easily be carried along with convenience never before imaginable.

Other incredible phone features available with the StarTAC phone are: a "Smart" Button, which allows for simplified one-handed use of the phone; Lithium Ion (LiIon) battery technology for optimal talk times between charges; the VibraCall(tm) alert feature to receive incoming calls in a silent vibration alert mode versus the usual ringer; a headset jack for hands free conversations, and a complete portfolio of new accessories.

Features depend on the model of StarTAC phone. The base model StarTAC 3000 is now available during December for ONLY $99!1
