Jan Yeb's Ypma
Painter
Thank you for visiting our site and I hope you enjoy viewing the works on display.
As an artist I always marvel at the variety of ways in which we each see the universe and express ourselves in our art.
We are what we paint! This first became apparent to me as I observed the professional artists during my childhood in Holland, Europe. The artists I liked most in our neighbourhood were those who were the most exuberant about life. Their sculptures and paintings also enchanted and fascinated me the most as portraying truly heartfelt celebrations about life. Now, many years later, as a painter I also attempt to go for the soul of my subject, to capture the feeling it imparts at that particular moment in time or the mood it presents. For those reasons I tend to work in the styles of Impressionism and Expressionism.
Paradise, to me, is packing my paint, brushes and a small roll of canvas (I never forget to bring a full thermos of coffee) into my kayak, paddling to some little island and spending an entire day painting the splendour in my immediate surroundings.
Life can be a wondrous thing, can't it?
